Virgilio Guidi

Virgilio Guidi was born in Rome in 1891 into a family of ancient Tuscan stock. His father, a sculptor, launched him on the path of artistic studies, initially in the workshop of a famous Roman restoration artist and later at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. In 1927 he moved to Venice, where he became a teacher at the Acedemy. The recurrent theme of his works became the Venetian landscape. He died here in 1984.
